Why we do the prep and the paint together

A lot of painters will not patch. A lot of plasterers will not paint. The customer ends up coordinating two trades, paying two callout fees, and hoping the finish lines up. Half the time it does not, because the painter is working over patches that were never sanded flush.

We do both for one reason. The finish only looks right when the prep and the paint are done by the same team, in the right order, with the same eye on the wall. A patch that has been sanded properly, primed properly, and feathered into the surrounding surface disappears under the roller. A patch that has been rushed shows through every coat. This is the part of the job that most customers do not see and most quotes do not price. We do not skip it.

Being straight about scope

Painting and plaster work runs from quick patch jobs through to full-house repaints with spray equipment and scaffolding. We work the middle of that range, residential interior and small exterior. Jobs that need scaffolding, spray rigs, or specialist heritage work sit outside what we offer, and a dedicated painting contractor is the right call for those.

The painting and repair jobs Canberra homes need most

Canberra's climate and housing mix produce a fairly predictable set of painting and wall repair jobs. Three scenarios come up over and over.

Settlement cracks in newer homes. Most of the homes built across Gungahlin, Molonglo Valley, and Wright in the past fifteen years show fine cracking at cornices and door frames as the building settles. These are usually cosmetic, not structural, but they look bad and they spread if ignored. A proper fill, sand, and repaint of the affected sections deals with them cleanly.

Pre-sale and pre-rental repaints. Inner-suburb homes across Yarralumla, Deakin, Hughes, O'Connor, and Lyons get prepared for sale or rental regularly, and a clean repaint of the living areas and hallway is one of the highest-return jobs you can do. We get called in for this constantly, often alongside a pressure wash and a tidy of the gutters.

Wall patching after life happens. Furniture moves, picture hooks come out, a door handle goes through plasterboard, a kid puts a foot through the wall. We patch the section, feather it in, and repaint either the patch or the whole wall depending on what will give the cleaner result.

Painting plus the rest of the list

A repaint rarely sits alone. The same trigger that prompts the painting, a tenant moving out, a sale coming up, a refresh before guests arrive, usually brings a list of other jobs with it. While we are on-site for the paint, we can sort the sticking door that catches the carpet, replace the cracked tile in the bathroom, fix the loose handrail, clear the gutters, or pressure wash the driveway out the front. One visit, one invoice, the place actually finished.

For landlords and property managers, this is the most efficient way to handle a turnover. A repaint of the living areas, a wall patch in the bedroom, a fence panel back in line, and the gutters cleared, all booked together rather than as four separate jobs.
