A handyman is not an electrician, a plumber or a gas-fitter. If your job needs one of those tickets we'll say so and point you to a reliable local.
Outside our scope
Licensed electrical work (anything past plug-and-play). Licensed plumbing (pipe work, hot-water systems, gas). Structural carpentry that requires engineer sign-off. Roof work at height without safe access. Asbestos. We'll have a quick look, tell you what's actually needed, and refer you to someone who's licensed for it.

What work will a handyman not do in the ACT?
Licensed electrical work beyond plug-and-play, licensed plumbing including pipe work, hot-water systems and gas, structural carpentry that needs engineer sign-off, roof work at height without safe access, and asbestos. Polytechnitis will have a quick look, tell you what is actually needed, and refer you to someone licensed for it.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. Polytechnitis calls back the same day, and the price you are quoted is fixed before the work starts.
Are you insured and police cleared?
Yes. Polytechnitis carries public liability insurance, holds a National Police Check and an ACT Working With Vulnerable People registration, and uses no subcontractors. Documentation can be provided on request.
Which areas do you cover?
Canberra and the whole ACT metro area, plus Queanbeyan, Bungendore and Cooma. Call to confirm your suburb if you are outside the metro area.
How soon can you book a job in?
Most home repairs and maintenance jobs can be scheduled within the week. Urgent jobs are worth a phone call rather than a form, so we can tell you straight away what is possible.
